Robert Grimes

Robert Grimes joined Dearson when his business merged with the company in the 1990’s. With 39 years in engineering, his practical experience encompasses all aspects of tooling, including OPG, grinding, universal and cutter grinding, milling and turning.

Almost four decades of front-line experience has resulted in a deep understanding of his industry. Robert is highly skilled in tooling design and prototyping and sees Dearson’s high client retention rate as evidence of the company’s quality tooling and customer service. However, having been office-based during his time as a manager of his own business, Robert understands the need to evolve in the highly competitive manufacturing and engineering industries.

“Rather than trying to compete with the companies in India and the Far East, who can offer mass produced tools at ridiculously cheap prices, we recognised that Dearson needed to evolve and diversify,” he comments. “By offering clients a full service from Consultancy all the way through to Prototyping and manufacture, I believe we offer a level of value and service which differentiates us and delivers value to our current and future customers that they cannot get offshore.

“We don’t simply take a brief and complete the design and manufacturing,” he adds. “We work step by step with our clients to ensure they get the best out of the tools we make for them, by telling them about speeds, feeds and other variables that will allow their tools to function to the highest standards.”
